Objective: Reducing Waste in Exhibition Stand Construction through Recycling Initiatives
Overview
At Grand Stand Events, sustainability is more than just a buzzword – it’s central to everything we do. Through our Go Green with Grand Stand Events initiative, we’ve focused on minimising the waste generated from our exhibition stand builds. By shifting away from traditional MDF, we’ve significantly reduced waste. However, we needed a solution to repurpose and recycle the alternative materials we rely on – PVC, ACM boards, and vinyl flooring – to ensure our projects are as sustainable as possible. To help us achieve this, we partnered with PanelCycle, a leader in recycling these materials, to establish a circular approach to exhibition stand construction, moving away from traditional MDF and further reducing overall waste.

The Challenge
Exhibition stands, though often temporary, require robust materials for walls, signage, and floors. Materials like MDF are still commonly used, but they are less sustainable and often discarded to landfill after events. To better align with our sustainability goals and offer eco-friendly solutions to our clients, we transitioned to more sustainable materials like PVC, ACM, and vinyl. However, we needed a partner who could help us recycle these materials efficiently. PanelCycle’s ability to recycle these made them the ideal choice for this partnership.
The Solution
PanelCycle offers an innovative solution that perfectly aligns with our sustainability goals by enabling the recycling of PVC, ACM, and vinyl flooring used in our exhibition stands. Their service supports our commitment to responsible waste management and reducing our environmental impact. By partnering with them, we’ve streamlined the process of repurposing these materials, making it easier for us to contribute to a greener future. PanelCycle’s business model is a game-changer in promoting sustainability within our industry.
1. Recycling Integration: After each event, we collect and recycle all PVC, ACM, and vinyl flooring used in our stands. These materials are processed and repurposed, ensuring they don’t end up in landfills and instead become part of a circular economy.
2. Reducing Environmental Impact: By replacing traditional MDF with our eco-flooring, recyclable PVC, ACM, and vinyl flooring, and integrating PanelCycle’s recycling processes, we’ve embedded sustainability into our operations. We now recycle 100% of these materials, significantly reducing waste and shrinking our carbon footprint.
3. Offering Eco-Friendly Solutions: Providing clients with the choice to work with a company that prioritises sustainability and uses recyclable materials has given us a competitive advantage. Our clients appreciate knowing that by choosing us, they’re opting for a more environmentally responsible solution for their events.

Results
Our partnership with PanelCycle has brought about some truly positive changes:
• Waste Reduction: We’re proud to now recycle 100% of the PVC, ACM, and vinyl flooring materials used in our exhibition stands, helping to significantly reduce the waste generated at each event. Since partnering with PanelCycle in 2024, we have diverted over 7 tonnes of material from landfills and this waste has been repurposed into new building materials.
• Client Support: Our clients have responded positively to this focus on sustainability, appreciating our efforts to adopt eco-friendly practices and the use of recyclable materials.
• Ongoing Progress: This collaboration has helped us continue to improve our approach to sustainable stand design and environmental responsibility, as we strive to make a meaningful impact in our industry.

Conclusion
Partnering with PanelCycle has transformed our approach to sustainability at Grand Stand Events. By shifting from traditional materials like MDF to recyclable alternatives such as PVC, ACM, and vinyl flooring, we’ve significantly reduced our environmental footprint and reinforced our commitment to providing sustainable, high-quality solutions. As we continue to explore new ways to embrace eco-friendly event design, this partnership plays a key role in helping us move the exhibition industry towards a more sustainable future.
