Exhibiting green

Trade exhibitions aren’t known for being particularly environmentally friendly but ‘exhibiting green’ has become a growing trend over the past few years. Whether it’s a raised awareness towards sustainability, a money saving endeavour or simply some exhibitors jumping on the bandwagon it has definitely gained traction.

But why bother exhibiting green?

Well, it depends what you want to gain from it. At the most superficial level, it’s a people pleaser! Consumers are becoming more conscious of engaging with environmentally friendly products and sustainable brands – being green is fashionable. So even if your brand has never been concerned with your environmental impact, consider whether your target audience would gravitate towards a ‘green’ brand.

But other than pleasing your audience there are so many other benefits to exhibiting green. One of the most obvious benefit being your impact on the environment, exhibiting green can decrease your carbon footprint, protect natural resources and recycle what would otherwise be garbage thrown into landfills.

If you are looking for a more practical reason to exhibit green consider this: it can decrease your energy expenses, material spending and items can be reused for future exhibitions.

So, how can you exhibit green? Well, if you’re interested in attracting an audience consider your aesthetic – pops of green, natural textures, fresh colours and recycled or reused materials convey an environmentally friendly approach. Other ways you can exhibit green include using energy saving lighting or appliances, recycled building materials and even reusing aspects of a previous trade show stand – better yet, use these materials again for the next exhibition!
