The Brief
Red Bull approached Grand Stand Events for their first-ever Overboard activation: a high-energy water-based event created in partnership with SUPBALL. The brief? Create branded inflatables and a fully customised scoreboard to support gameplay and enhance the visual impact of the event.
With Red Bull’s high standards and tight timeline, the challenge was on. Deliver bold, functional, and durable pieces that looked great on the water—and could hold up to the wild nature of the game.
What is Red Bull Overboard?
Red Bull Overboard is a high-adrenaline twist on SUPBALL, a chaotic mash-up of netball, water polo, lacrosse, and rugby, played entirely on stand-up paddleboards.
The twist? Teams start with eight players, but each time someone scores, they leave the court, handing the opposition a numbers advantage. Once both teams are down to four players, play continues until time runs out. Most goals at the buzzer wins. Fast, physical, and absolutely unpredictable—this sport lives up to the Red Bull name.
Our Solution
To support the Red Bull Overboard format, we designed and fabricated two key elements:
Custom Inflatable Triangle Barriers
- • 7 x Inflatable Triangle Prisms
- • Each 2400mm wide x 800mm high
- • Branded with Red Bull logos on both sides
- • Designed with D-rings on all faces for secure anchoring in open water
- • Built for high visibility, durability, and reusability
These formed floating boundaries and goal indicators for the game while reinforcing the Red Bull brand visually across the water.
Custom-Built Scoreboard
- • Constructed with treated plywood for outdoor durability
- • Finished to match Red Bull’s brand colours
- • Branded with a SAV-wrapped Dibond panel for a sleek, clean finish
- • Fitted with manually adjustable, digital-style numbers to track scores in real-time
- • Mounted on a collapsible base for easy transport and compact post-event storage
The Outcome
The Red Bull Overboard activation was a success. The floating triangle inflatables added functional visibility and strong branding across the event zone, while the scoreboard became a central feature of gameplay.
Delivered on a fast turnaround, this activation demonstrated Grand Stand Events’ ability to respond quickly, fabricate custom event elements, and meet the expectations of a global brand like Red Bull: with precision and creative execution.
This was our first activation with Red Bull and we’re pumped for what’s next.
