Client: Kave Home Australia
Stand Size: 6m x 7m island (42 sqm) | Custom Build | Melbourne, VIC
Client Background
For their first appearance at the Melbourne Design Show 2025, Kave Home engaged Grand Stand Events to construct their 6m x 7m custom island stand. The brief was clear and design-driven: a warm, modern space that reflected the brand’s sophisticated, high-end design aesthetic. Our role was to ensure every objective was delivered to specification, with quality craftsmanship and seamless execution across the board.

Project Delivery
Kave Home supplied a comprehensive design plan that detailed layout, finishes and spatial features. Our in-house team worked closely with their team to review buildability, optimise finishes for the expo environment and ensure that every element from joinery to lighting aligned with both the design intent and the practical demands of live event construction.
Their goal was to elevate their product display with design elements that felt modern and warm, encouraging visitors to explore both the styling and quality of their materials.

Design Goals
- • A premium, showroom-style environment that felt warm and welcoming
- • Open sightlines and generous circulation to invite foot traffic from all angles
- • Bespoke joinery to highlight furniture, fabric swatches and solid samples
- • A dedicated sample zone for catalogue materials and drawer-based interaction
- • Integrated lighting to enhance product visibility without harshness
Key Execution Highlights
Open Plan Layout
Our team constructed the island stand with large circulation zones and unobstructed lines of sight, ensuring visibility from all four sides. The build quality elevated the showroom feel, with careful attention paid to flooring transitions, sightlines and structural stability across the open span. The space was styled with intention to echo their retail brand experience.

Bespoke Display Pillars with Recessed Lighting
A standout feature of the build was the custom-designed pillars with inset shelving. Built from MDF and finished with textured paint, these formed structural zones across the stand. Integrated LED strip lighting highlighted fabric swatches, solid samples, and accessories — turning each shelf into a micro showroom.

Atelier Sample Zone
Kave Home’s “Atelier” concept was brought to life through high-quality laminate cabinetry with custom drawer systems. The unit was finished in Lincoln Walnut laminate [hand-trimmed and installed to feel like permanent joinery rather than temporary expo cabinetry] for a soft, architectural touch. Visitors could physically engage with the brand’s materials in a curated way — enhancing dwell time and brand recall. Our team ensured smooth drawer operation and premium touchpoints that matched retail quality standards.

Overhead Rig and Ambient Lighting
We constructed and installed a suspended lighting rig fitted with directional warm spotlights. The rig was calibrated onsite to cast soft, even light across key product zones. This avoided harsh expo-style lighting and elevated the ambience to match the home interior feel.

Material and Build Details
- • Framework: Custom-fabricated MDF, CNC-cut and hand-finished
- • Surfaces: Textured paint finishes and Lincoln Walnut laminate cabinetry
- • Lighting: Integrated LED shelving and rigged warm spotlights
- • Project Management: End-to-end delivery by Grand Stand Events
Results
The final build fulfilled every aspect of Kave Home’s vision. The open floorplan created a calm, inviting environment that naturally encouraged exploration. Custom recessed shelving pillars with warm integrated lighting enhanced the presentation of fabrics and samples, while the Atelier station offered a dedicated space for tactile interaction. Every material and finish was selected and applied to reflect the high standards of the Kave Home brand.
The client’s feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The stand not only captured their design intent but provided a beautifully finished platform that attracted steady foot traffic and strong interest.
