Project Overview

 

At Smart Energy 2026, Go Solar required more than a visually strong exhibition stand. The objective was to create an environment capable of attracting high volumes of traffic while supporting meaningful, sustained interaction with attendees across the two-day event.

Positioned within one of Australia’s busiest renewable energy exhibitions, the stand needed to communicate technical credibility, showcase a broad product range, and facilitate both casual conversations and deeper consultation opportunities.

Unlike many exhibition environments that rely solely on aesthetics, the Go Solar stand incorporated integrated spatial analytics technology, allowing visitor behaviour, engagement quality, and stand performance to be measured throughout the event.

 

Designing for Engagement, Not Just Visibility

 

The design centred around openness, accessibility, and movement.

Rather than enclosing the footprint with heavy architectural structures, the stand remained visually accessible from every side. Product displays were strategically positioned to guide attendees naturally through the environment without interrupting circulation or creating congestion during peak periods.

Three suspended overhead banners provided strong visibility across the exhibition hall to reinforce brand presence at long-range view.

At ground level, the space balanced technical product education with approachable visitor interaction. Solar panels were positioned as hero display elements, while integrated consultation zones allowed the Go Solar team to move seamlessly between quick conversations and longer-form discussions.

The result was a stand that felt open, confident, and easy to engage with.

 

Spatial Strategy & Visitor Flow

 

Visitor movement was a major consideration throughout the design process.

The stand incorporated multiple entry points to encourage attendees to move deeper into the space rather than remaining at the perimeter. Solar panel displays were angled deliberately to create visual progression across the floorplan while maintaining clear sightlines throughout.

The stand featured two open conversation zones designed to encourage longer discussions while maintaining connection to the wider space. Timber-look acoustic panelling, integrated AV, and softer furnishings introduced warmth and contrast against the technical product displays positioned around the perimeter.

The combination of open circulation and structured interaction zones allowed the stand to support multiple forms of engagement simultaneously, from casual browsing through to in-depth product consultation.

 

Measured Engagement & Visitor Behaviour

 

Using Grand Stand Events’ spatial analytics reporting, the team was able to measure how visitors moved through the stand, how long they stayed, and how often they returned across the two-day event.

The results showed exceptionally strong engagement performance:

∙ 2,437 total visitors passed the stand
∙ 1,551 visitors actively engaged with the space
∙ 63.6% engagement conversion rate
∙ Average dwell time of more than 18 minutes
∙ Over 1,500 hours of total brand engagement generated
∙ 25% of visitors returned across both event days
∙ Engagement performance exceeded industry benchmarks across all major metrics

Reporting also revealed that visitors were spending significant time within the stand, with nearly half remaining engaged for more than 10 minutes. Repeat visitation remained strong throughout the show, reinforcing the stand’s ability to create ongoing interaction rather than one-off attention.

While Day 1 delivered the highest overall traffic, Day 2 produced even stronger quality engagement and longer interaction periods, particularly throughout the afternoon.

Together, the analytics confirmed the stand was functioning as a genuine engagement environment, successfully converting surrounding traffic into meaningful visitor interaction and sustained brand exposure.

Suspended Overhead Signage

Three large cube banners created strong visibility from multiple directions across the exhibition floor, helping attendees identify the stand from long range within a busy event environment.

Product-Led Display Zones

Solar panels and energy systems were positioned as hero elements throughout the stand, encouraging hands-on interaction while maintaining clear circulation pathways.

Consultation Areas

Integrated consultation spaces allowed the Go Solar team to conduct deeper product and commercial conversations without disconnecting from the surrounding exhibition activity.

Integrated AV & Educational Content

Mounted screens and layered product displays supported technical education while reinforcing key messaging throughout the environment.

Sensor Analytics Integration

Integrated behavioural analytics provided Go Solar with measurable insight into visitor engagement, dwell time, repeat visitation, and conversion performance across the event.

The Go Solar stand successfully combined product presentation, visitor accessibility, and measurable engagement performance into one cohesive exhibition environment.

Rather than relying solely on visual impact, the stand was strategically designed to attract surrounding traffic, encourage deeper interaction, and sustain visitor engagement over time.
