Overview
In a landmark collaboration, Grand Stand Events teamed up with VML Global to create an extraordinary brand activation for Cadbury: the Cadbury Team of Favourites. This event brought a unique concept to life, featuring a massive human foosball table and a DJ tower ingeniously designed to resemble a Cadbury Favourites box, all set against the scenic backdrop of the Chinese Garden in Sydney.

The Concept
The activation centrepiece was a human foosball table that stretched over an impressive 70 square meters. Accompanying this was a DJ tower designed as a Cadbury Favourites box, flanked by oversized chocolate bars, setting the stage for a fun and immersive brand experience.

The Challenge
The project was a monumental undertaking, with six months of meticulous planning leading up to the event. The primary challenge was the limited timeframe for setup: everything had to be constructed, executed, and dismantled within a single day. Safety and structural integrity were paramount, requiring innovative design and engineering solutions to ensure the activation could be quickly deployed while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Execution
The event took place immediately following the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, adding to the excitement and vibrancy of the setting. Grand Stand Events worked tirelessly to bring the concept to life, leveraging their expertise in creating dynamic and interactive event environments. The team ensured every detail, from the oversized chocolate bars to the functional human foosball table, was perfectly executed.

The build featured:

1. Cadbury Box Goals:
• Plywood wall flats (2.28 x 2.4mH)
• Wall bracing with 90×45 timber and bolts for easy assembly and dismantling
• Pine uprights with 12mm CD structural ply skin
• Painted finish ready for vinyl application
• Custom printed vinyl graphics
2. Cladding Surround:
• Fencing
• 9mm plywood skin inside and 15mm plywood base and top cap
• Steel plate base with tube steel construction
• Ready for vinyl application
• Custom printed vinyl graphics
3. Weights:
• Approximately 5 tonnes for secure anchoring
4. Foosball Aluminium Poles:
• Six poles, each 6.5m long
• Weight legs on each end
• Aluminium poles attached to weights
5. Futsal Goals:
• Two goals, each measuring 2.4m x 1.8mH
6. Signage:
• Self-Adhesive Vinyl (SAV) used across DJ box, pitch surround (double-sided), and futsal posts
7. Giant Cadbury Chocolate Bars:
• Four oversized hard coated high density foam bars for promotional display.

Results
The activation was a resounding success, captivating visitors and creating a memorable experience that embodied the playful spirit of the Cadbury brand. The seamless execution showcased the creativity, ingenuity, and sheer determination of both Grand Stand Events and VML Global, proving that with the right team, even the most ambitious ideas can be brought to life.
