Event: Santa’s Sandpit Christmas Activation

Overview:

eBay partnered with Ogilvy to create an engaging and interactive Christmas experience, the Santa’s Sandpit, aimed at children aged 4-11. The goal of the activation was to give away trending toys in the lead-up to Christmas, creating an exciting and memorable experience for kids and parents alike.

The Activation:

The centrepiece of the event was an 8-metre-long, 4-metre-high archway leading to a massive 55-square-metre sandpit filled with 15 tons of sand. Toys were hidden throughout the sandpit, allowing children to dig, discover, and take home their very own Christmas gift.

This unique activation required a blend of technical expertise, creative vision, and hands-on execution. The logistics of shovelling 15 tons of sand into place was a challenge, but one that our team met head-on with determination and precision.

Execution:

Creating the Santa’s Sandpit involved close collaboration between Ogilvy and our team at Grand Stand Events. The design and construction of the display, including the impressive archway and toy-filled sandpit, were built with the goal of delivering an immersive and fun experience that aligned with eBay’s brand and holiday message.

Results:

The event was a resounding success, attracting families and creating a memorable Christmas moment for the children who attended. The activation effectively highlighted eBay’s brand and provided a festive, hands-on experience that left a lasting impression.
